HOW YOU CAN HELP

Many of you have sent me emails asking how you can help.  As you might imaging fighting a disease like cancer is a very costly endeavor.  Insurance only covers part of the costs.  Since Jennifer’s return to work she has not accumulated enough sick time or leave time that allows her to take time off with pay.  The days that she has to take off from work are now with no pay.  The last thing a person whether it’s my sister, your sister, brother, mother, friend, etc, should have to worry about in addition to the disease is the financial ramifications.  However that is where we are.  There is a lot of activity around fund raising, grant applications and donations occuring behind the scenes between supporters all over the country.   All are being coordinated by a wonderful team there in Ohio.

Jennifer is not comfortable at all in reaching out for this type of support feeling that to do so is a failure on her part.  I assert it is not a failure on her part but could be considered a failure on our part, the government’s part, the employer part, heck society in general.  The energies of the patient need to be 100% on the healing process.  To that end a fund has been established to help defray some of the medical and personal costs that are incurred while Jennifer is out of work.  The bills do not stop coming in because a person is fighting an illness.  All donations are appreciated as we know each and everyone comes from the heart.  All donations should be sent to the below individual.  Receipts of acknowledgement will be returned to you.
